Rest In Peace
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:\
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

[2024]: I was away at college and as I recall, my father called me about 9:30am on December 10th. I was last in Georgia for Thanksgiving. I recall my mother and I had a fight over (now) nothing significant. It was just before semester final exams and I was numb. I think I “kept it together” until a couple of days later when I had dinner with Carol Bernard and Patrick Hummel at a Mexican restaurant in Natchitoches. Then I broke down. There’s still so much I want to talk to her about. She made incredible sand paintings of Hopi Indian deities and kachinas, and mixed-media sand paintings over traditional paintings. She also did stained glass and ceramic items throughout the 1970s and 1980s. She worked on various crafts almost until her death in 1990. She also wrote poetry, much of which is elsewhere on the site. I am surrounded by her art and am thankful for it.
